How to Stay Productive When Working From Home
Working from home can boost flexibility, but it also makes it easier to get distracted. Here are simple habits that help you stay on track.
1. Set a dedicated workspace
Use a desk or table only for work when you can. It trains your brain to switch into “work mode” when you sit there and makes it easier to switch off later.
2. Stick to a routine
Wake up, start, and stop at roughly the same time each day. A simple morning routine (e.g. coffee, short walk, then open laptop) helps you get started without overthinking.
3. Block distractions
Turn off non-urgent notifications during focus blocks. Use site blockers or “Do Not Disturb” so you can concentrate on one task at a time.
4. Take short breaks
Step away from the screen every 60–90 minutes. A short walk or stretch helps you stay fresh and avoid burnout.
5. End the day clearly
Close tabs, shut the laptop, and if possible leave your workspace. A clear “work is over” signal helps you relax and sleep better.
Small, consistent habits make the biggest difference. Start with one or two of these and add more as they stick.
